I’m either in the process of, or have had, our baby! We’re soaking it all in, and I’ll be back once life has settled down to share the rest of my nursery and eventually, new house projects! Probably in 2013. Thanks for reading thus far & have a lovely holiday season!

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!
It’s finally Friday! These types of posts are some of my favorite to read on others’ blogs, so I figured I’d throw them into the mix. So, here is to happy stumbling and I hope that you find something you love too!

I love jewel tones and this would be a perfect print for above a headboard. Found at LouisestArt. (Looks like they have a Black Friday coupon code too!)
Screenprints are so graphic; I love the combination of a dachshund’s unique shape with the bold lines! Found at Domestica.

I always think about buying hand molds at antique stores – I’d love to put my rings on them! This looks way cheaper and like an easy project. Bepunt blogged this idea – I pinned this to my DIY Projects board.
How pretty is this herringbone feature wall from Makely? Our new house has wood overload so I’ll have to save it for another home but I like the different shades she used. I pinned this to my Rooms board.

- Sanitation isn’t a glamorous cause but it is an important one. Read about award winning toilets from a round of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grants here.
- I feel like I’ve read a lot lately about how studios are relying on making sequels and prequels because they’re more reliable money makers than unique story lines. This New York Times article takes the opposite approach, arguing that unconventional screenplays are more abundant than ever. Do you like movies that buck the norms?? Read about it here.
DIY Nursery: Bright Animal Crib Mobile

Holy cow, mobiles are expensive! That was my first thought when I started sifting out what I wanted to buy vs. make for our nursery. So, I made one. Even better – I made one with fabric scraps from the beautiful quilt my Mom made for the baby! Continue reading »

I pinned this to buy later and put it in my closet in our new house! I love the look and would have fun picking out crystals to hang from the pre-drilled holes. Found at iTag Studios.
What is cuter than a whimsical owl? A whimsical owl with a HARP! This illustration from Iota Illustration is adorable.

These are so stinking cute! What a cute baby shower present. Domesticesq sewed these and I love them – I pinned these to my Sewing For My Boy (Or Your Girl) board.
I love Scrabble and we never have enough coasters, so this is a great simple idea from Domestic For Dummies. I plan to make some for our new home soon! I pinned these to my DIY Projects board.

- Gender stereotypes are pervasive and this is a heart warming bit about how one dad hacked Zelda so his little girl could be addressed properly! Awesome quote: “As he put it, “I’m not having my daughter growing up thinking girls don’t get to be the hero.” Read about it here.
- Everyone loves a feel good story, and I love this one. It’s easy to get caught up in negative stories online, so here is a positive one in response to how Sandy affected one family. Read about it here.
DIY Nursery: Ottoman Pouf

Poufs are all over the place these days! I love leather poufs and knitted poufs, but worry about the durability and ease of cleaning for both of those materials. I was excited when I saw this pouf pattern sewn and on display in a local shop and ordered it off Amazon once I got around to planning our nursery. The glider we bought from Nebraska Furniture Mart didn’t have a matching ottoman, but I’m not sure I would’ve bou
ght it even if it existed. I like that this glider can be used in a different room and the pouf can be used in the playroom or basement later on! Continue reading »

While I’m not planning my wedding any longer (3 years in May!) I think this would be beautiful in a bedroom! I repinned this Martha Stewart idea from Jessica’s boards to DIY Projects Board.

- There are several ‘crowd-funding’ sites out there that allow everyday folks to donate small amounts to get a project off the ground, but I think Kickstarter is the most well-known. I love hearing success stories, and I love the concept of crowd-funding, so I really enjoyed reading about 10 Kickstarter success stories here.
- Have you heard of MOOCS or Massive Online Open Courses? I think it is such a neat idea and would love to try Coursera once we’ve settled in with the new baby and a new house. This is a cool article about their growth and changes in the New York Times, let me know if you have participated in one!
Package Pals!
I love creating things by hand, and I love that the Internet has allowed for virtual handmade communities, marketplaces, and sharing spaces to exist. I read about Swap Bot a while back – it’s basically an online community with different, specialized “swaps” that are set up by other users. I was excited, especially since I … Continue reading »

DIY Gifts: Computer Keyboard & Mouse Wrist Rest

I know there is a lot of chatter about DIY handmade gifts for guys – and this is a simple one! I made a set for my brother and brother-in-law but it would make a great gift for a teen or a woman as well. I picked a geek-chic computer themed fabric but you could easily personalize it with a favorite sports team, nice soft flannel, or upcycled fabric from a favorite shirt or blanket. I picture them using this at work especially – so hopefully they do! Continue reading »
